In its third year and run jointly by Committee for Echuca Moama and Rich River Golf Club, the funds raised will go towards a bus for ENH’s Food Bank service which helps support and deliver nutritious fresh food to those in need.
ENH manager Sarah Peake was thrilled money raised will go towards those in the community who need help to put food on the table.
“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the community,” she said.
“The last three years have been very difficult for many people in the community and the floods have compounded that. Knowing that we can help ease the worry of putting food on the table is so rewarding for everyone at the house. My volunteers do an amazing job and I’m so excited that the bus will help support their efforts.
“I cannot possibly thank everyone enough for organising and supporting the night.”
Committee for Echuca Moama chief executive officer Chris Janson said he was thrilled the funds were going to such a worthwhile cause.
“It’s wonderful to know the funds will be going to Echuca Neighbourhood House which helps so many people in our community,” he said.
“Sadly, Echuca and Moama have not been immune from the effects of the pandemic or the rising cost of living and, combined with the floods, there are more people than ever before reaching out for help. We are thrilled to be able to help in any way we can.”
Rich River Golf Club marketing and events manager Deanne Armstrong was humbled by the support shown by the businesses who supported the event and the generosity of the celebrities who donated their time.
“The sense of community in Echuca Moama is wonderful and the Golf Club is delighted to partner with C4EM for the third year which has raised a total of $147,000, with all the funds going back into the community,” she said.
“This year’s event has been very successful and will be supporting such an important need in our community, especially after the ongoing impacts of the floods in October last year.”
The winning team on the day was Two Lads, who played with former Hawthorn great Paul Hudson.
Following the golf, Tataila Room hosted 170 people for a dinner and auction, hosted by comedian Des Dowling.
The dinner included Hawthorn legend Gary Buckenara hosting a question-and answer session with football greats Michael Tuck, Tony Jewell, Frank Marchesani and Paul Hudson.
Those who gave their support included Shepparton BMW, Moama RSL, Coolabah Turf, Water Partners, Echuca Back 9 Golf Course, Echuca Mazda and Mitsubishi, Bendigo TAFE, Greenham’s Tongala, Echuca Lions Club, Moama Bowling Club, CVGT Employment, Byford Equipment, BildGroup, Two Lads, J2 Creative, Rich River Golf Club, Committee for Echuca Moama, and the National Food Institute.
