Event organiser Sarah Mostyn has been trying for a while to run the event for the community, and after a grant from the Gannawarra Shire Council, has succeeded in her plans.
“I run the Cohuna Farmers’ and Makers’ Market, and for a few months I’d been keen to put on an event for the community to give them a free day out and give back a little bit,” Ms Mostyn said.
“These days most events cost money for people to come along to, and times are pretty tough for a lot of people with COVID and fuel prices and everything that’s going on.
“I was keen to put on an event on for the community that was completely free, and people could come along to regardless of their financial position, and I heard that the Gannawarra Shire had grant funding available for outdoor events and we jumped on that. They were really keen to support that idea.”
The Family Fun Day will include live music, face painting, a jumping castle, slot cars, roving magic and a bubble machine, and have ice cream, wood-fired pizza and coffee available.
“Everything will be free, so get your face painted, go on the jumping castles as many times as you want, get your free ice cream, all of that,” Ms Mostyn said.
“I tried to make it so it would have something for all ages, so adults can enjoy the music, and a free coffee and some pizza, and the older kids will enjoy the slot cars, and I think everyone will love the magicians and the bubble machines.”
Cohuna’s Family Fun Day will take place from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, April 3, at Cohuna Garden Park, and is proudly brought to you by Cohuna Markets and supported by Gannawarra Shire Council through the Victorian Government's COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund.
