Dawn and mid-morning services were held in Deniliquin and Mathoura, with other commemorative services at Wanganella and the No. 7 Service Flying Training School memorial at Deniliquin Airport.
Special guest at the Edward River Council services was former local and Squadron Leader Retired Dean Robertson.
And Deniliquin’s sole surviving World War II veteran, 100 year-old Russell Eames, received a rousing round of applause as he led the march back to the town hall after the Deniliquin 11am service from the front passenger seat of a jeep.
A full wrap up on Anzac Day commemorations will be included in Tuesday’s edition.
