Event inspires women to be Brave, Not Perfect

Women of the Murray founder Stacey Dick said the event was a major success, with all tickets sold out for the night.

“It was incredible to see the event sell out, with all 50 tickets snapped up,” she said.

“The room was full of conversation, laughter and connection — a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.

“We hoped every woman walked away feeling seen, supported and inspired to be brave, not perfect.”

Attendees came from all walks of life, including small business owners, teachers, community leaders, health professionals, local government representatives and some from the private sector.

Before the evening’s program began, guests enjoyed delicious finger food and had the chance to win lucky door prizes.

Mrs Dick then gave attendees a warm welcome before the guest speakers began their presentations.

The four speakers included Lutfiye Kavci, Rebecca Huismann, Jesse Mitchell and Krysten Rogers.

Throughout their presentations they touched on issues that resonated with many in the room, such as family violence, life after a traumatic injury, the courage to live authentically and transforming personal hardship into leadership.

As the speakers shared their stories, guests had the opportunity to ask questions and were given plenty of time between presentations to converse and reflect with one another.

Attendees were also invited to complete confession cards, which will be showcased in a ‘Brave Confessions’ display at the 2026 Brave, Not Perfect Gala.

Mrs Dick said the event was well received, with attendees sharing positive feedback on the evening.

“The response on the night was incredible,” she said.

“Many women spoke about how raw and relatable the stories were, and how much they appreciated the honesty and vulnerability from the speakers.

“The common sentiment was that the event left them feeling uplifted, connected and proud to be part of something real.”

Ms Dick said she would like to extend her thanks to those who supported the event, including the organisers’ partners at C4EM, the team at Fuzion Café, Rebecca Pilgrim Photography and the night’s guest speakers.

Following successful evenings in Cobram, Yarrawonga, Shepparton, Tocumwal and now Echuca, the next event is set to be held in Numurkah on Thursday, November 13.

The Women of the Murray team is now looking to the future, with more events for women to connect, learn and lead set to happen in the new year.
