Behind the scenes, the team at the Echuca Chocolate Company has been working tirelessly to get these treats out into the community and into people’s homes before the Easter holidays.
Having been opened since 2009, the Easter rush is something Echuca Chocolate Company owner Lisa McLean is certainly used to.
“Easter Saturday is always our busiest day of the year,” Ms McLean said.
“We have to close on Good Friday just so we can prepare enough chocolate for the Easter weekend.”
Even in the past week, the store has managed to sell out of its Easter-themed chocolates every day.
The team behind the Echuca Chocolate Company has predicted there will be even more customers through the door next week, in the final days before Easter.
In preparation for the rush, Ms McLean has been heading into the store about 6am to start cooking and getting ready for the day ahead.
Throughout the day, the team works together to wrap up the chocolates in plastic.
Each afternoon the team has then been re-stocking the store up again for the next morning.
In terms of why customers love their chocolates, Ms McLean said it was because they were “a boutique store that sells unique, handmade chocolates from scratch”.
She said they offered something different to grocery stores because they were able to be inventive with their creations.
“Our varieties change and evolve each year based on the trends and flavours that people are loving at the time,” Ms McLean said.
“Our most popular variety of Easter chocolates are the half eggs, which are filled with different mini chocolates.
The large half eggs come with different kinds of fillings, such as rocky road, honeycomb or mini eggs.
Ms McLean said these half eggs were special because each variety catered to every age group.
