Acting Captain Les Booth said with a larger contingent of firefighters and community volunteers helping this year, the brigade visited Deniliquin’s three main caravan parks to rattle the tins.
“We went to BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park, McLean Beach Holiday Park and Deniliquin Riverside Caravan Park, and people were very generous,” Act Capt Booth said.
“Even though things are tight for people, including fuel costs, they still gave what they could.
“I thank them all for their donations, and to the firefighters and other volunteers who helped us with collection.
“The Good Friday Appeal is important to us all, and we’re proud to support it each year.”
Act Capt Booth said firefighters returned to BIG4 on Easter Sunday for another annual tradition - delivering the Easter Bunny to distribute eggs with their historic Bedford fire truck.
He said helping make the weekend a success was that firefighters were not called out to any fires.
