Ms Berick proudly reflected on the event’s uniqueness and contribution to the twin towns over the past 25 events.
“In a time when lots of festivals are folding, Winter Blues is still kicking, and it’s thriving,” she said.
“I think it’s because of our community-driven model, and our loyalty, and our vibe and our values ... we are proud to be one of the most accessible and affordable music festivals in this country.
“We anticipate welcoming more than 15,000 attendees, with an economic boost of more than $17 million in direct and indirect spend to this region this week.”
Campapse Shire Deputy Mayor Jessica Mitchell officially declared the festival open, encouraging attendees to “explore the town, support local and ... hit the dancefloor”.
The Windsavers entertained guests at the launch event.
