The Kyabram Show will return on Saturday, October 18, with show secretary Filipa Marshall promising a day of agriculture fun for all ages.
With recent years showing a decrease in interest of the agriculture side of the show, Mrs Marshall said the committee have been actively thinking about how to engage audiences on show day.
One of those ways was through making a scavenger hunt for kids, which will lead families all around the showgrounds.
The hunt will include six pit stops where kids can get a stamp, and if they collect all six stamps, they receive a special Kyabram Show showbag.
“It’s about getting people to go right around the showgrounds ... people don’t realise there is a whole other side of the grounds other than the show alley,” Mrs Marshall said.
Another way of engaging is by putting a spotlight on one of the more popular kids attractions - the animal nursery.
Organising the nursery this year is Sarah Lloyd, who said it’s going to be bigger and better than previous years.
With goats, piglets, puppies, and chicks - there will be a gentle animal for every child to pat or even pick up.
Ms Lloyd said they want to inspire kids to become more involved and aware of agriculture within the community.
“Town people often miss out on a lot of the agriculture side of life... you don’t realise how special it is to grow up on a farm,” Ms Lloyd said.
“At the animal nursery, kids can come in with their questions, and they just love it.”
On the competition side there will be plenty to see with 1060 awards to be given out over the weekend.
From the pavilion to the paddocks, Mrs Marshall was pleased with the number of entries already coming in and with the strong support received from the Kyabram community.
“I’m really proud of this town... we’ve been so well-supported by the businesses in and around Kyabram,” she said.
“It makes you proud to be a Kyabramite.”
