Since then, there has been several close calls including six finishes in the top four.
Honorellay will enter the day as the best value local horse at $10 in the Independent Cranes BM58 Handicap ran over 1000m, the final race of the nine-card meeting.
“His preparation has been going well. He looked very good in track work on Saturday morning,” Lake said.
“The track looks like it will be quite heavy given all the rain we've had but the horses have been handling it quite well.
“He's been drawn wide but I think we should be able to bring him back into the race nicely.
“Because we only have to go across the road to the track, I think it puts us in a good position to win the race.”
Since returning from a 20-week spell, Honorellay has finished fifth at Echuca and fourth at Kilmore, results which Lake believes has the gelding building nicely.
“I wouldn't say he ran poorly in either of those races,” Lake said.
“He was underdone in his first race and still ran quite well. And at Kilmore there was only a nose between second and fourth.
“To finish fourth was a good effort considering he was given another wide barrier.”
The RMBL Investments Rising Stars Race BM58 Hcp in race six will have a strong Echuca-Moama flavour with Cornish-Gaskin's Georgia's Host set to race against Gwenda Johnstone's Catch A Hero.
Meanwhile, Michael Newton's Rock'n'rollrock has been named an emergency in the same race.
Daryl Archard and Dennis Oliver will also have runners in action on the day.
Crowds are unable to attend the meeting due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the meeting can be watched on racing.com
The first race is scheduled to jump at 12.30.
