After the success of the Echuca Moama Shave 2023, the dedicated volunteers are already on their way to raising the $10,000 target.
One of the Echuca Moama Shave organisers, Asha Davies, is really proud of the funds a group of mainly young people raised in 2023.
“It is a fundraiser that we are doing to raise money for local families that are directly affected by cancer,” Asha said.
“It is unique because it doesn’t go through a foundation, so absolutely everything that we raise leading up to and on the day, goes 100 per cent to the families in Echuca and Moama battling cancer.
“Last year, the money went towards driving lessons, and we helped renovate a bathroom to make it accessible for a girl who needed a wheelchair.
“People can use the money for groceries, fuel, parking at hospitals, accommodation and treatment, whatever they need to make their cancer battle easier.”

The Echuca Moama Shave started after Asha and a group of mates were talking about how cancer could touch all of them.
“I knew someone close to me who had just got diagnosed, and I was like, ‘Do you guys want to shave your head?’,” Asha said.
“Then we organised the event, and a few of them were like ‘Heck yeah, let’s do it’, so then we started Echuca Moama Shave.
“Last year, we had people that we knew that the money would be going to.
“But this year, we are going to have a suggestion box on the day, and people that come, can write down the name, a way to contact them, then a brief description of the scenario and then put it in our suggestion box.
“From there, we will look at it and decide who to spread the money out to, depending on what families need from us, is what we will try and provide for them.
