Ms Good was shopping with her infant daughter in a pram when she was attacked from behind by an armed offender.
When the offender began to attack Ms Good’s daughter, she charged towards him, arms outstretched, and pushed him away from the pram.
The offender then proceeded to stab Ms Good again before fleeing.
In her final moments, Ms Good handed off her daughter to two men, hoping they would be able to save her.
Ms Good is one of two to be given honours posthumously, along with Bondi Junction security officer Faraz Tahir who courageously confronted the attacker and died protecting others.
Other honourees awarded Bravery Medals were Silas Despréaux, Damien Guerot, Muhammad Taha, and Detective Inspector Amy Scott, who each showed extraordinary courage during the attack.
Commendation of Brave Conduct honours were bestowed on Noel McLaughlin and Catherine Molihan.
Governor-General Mostyn reflected on the bravery of these honourees.
“From different parts of Australia, and around the world, these bravery honourees are characterised by their selfless, courageous, and determined response in unspeakable and horrific circumstances,” she said.
“Every one of them showed strength, and profound courage, as they placed the safety of others above their own, demonstrating ultimate care for others.
“Their acts of bravery reflect the best of us, and remind us of the valour, compassion and service that are enduring and present across our communities.
“We also pay tribute to the 12 people injured, for their recovery and wellbeing, and all those whose lives were changed forever by the violence they witnessed on that terrible day.”
Ms Good grew up in Echuca and attended St Joseph’s College.
Following the announcement of Ms Good’s death, there was an outpouring of community grief and support online.
A GoFundMe page was started by Ms Good’s friend Steven Foxwell which raised over $840,000 for her family.
On the page, Ms Good was described as an inspiring individual who had a “beautiful and warm spirit”.
“Ash was a ray of sunshine and positivity in every aspect of her life and died a hero saving her little girl from the most unspeakable evil,” the page wrote.
