Mr Kuiper, 19, has been growing his hair for four or five years, and has only recently decided to do the big shave.
“The hair was going to come off anyway, so I thought I might as well raise money for a good cause,” he said.
“(The World’s Greatest Shave) wasn’t the goal when I started growing it, but I started thinking about it for six months, and then a month ago I decided I would do it.”
As a part of this effort, Mr Kuiper will be donating his hair to the Leukaemia Foundation to be created into wigs.
“I’m not 100 per cent sure how long my hair is,” Mr Kuiper said.
“It has to be 20cm to donate, but I will have enough for that.”
So far, Mr Kuiper has raised more than $2000 for the World’s Greatest Shave with his online fundraising, and will be drawing a raffle fundraiser on the day of the shave.
Bunnings Echuca, where Mr Kuiper works, has donated a Jumbuck four-burner Stardom II barbecue to be raffled on the day.
“My goal was $1000, but I hit that in nearly a week, so I upped it to $2000 and hit that as well,” he said.
“It’s just been word of mouth, my family, some of my work mates.
“I’ll see how it goes before I go up to $3000, but I’m happy with how I’ve gone so far.”
Mr Kuiper will be shaving his head at 11am at Bunnings Echuca on August 6.
