Nanneella and surrounding areas have gained a new social outlet with the launch of the ‘Nanneella Creative Catchup’.

Initiated earlier this month by locals Rosea Clarke and Lyn Mussared, the group invites crafters of all skill levels to gather at the Nanneella Memorial Hall for a morning of creativity and socialising.
Ms Clarke said she had previously tried to establish a similar club, but this time the community response had exceeded expectations.
“The first week we got nine people, which was unbelievable because I only got four to my first attempt,” she said.
“It’s about getting the ladies out of their houses and getting them to come down, have a chat with people and just enjoy themselves.”

Community members can bring their own projects to work on during the weekly meet-ups, while also exchanging ideas and tips with other members.
In addition to personal projects, the group is exploring opportunities to contribute to the wider community, such as making teddy bears for local hospitals or helping others with bigger projects.
There are also plans to collaborate with Nanneella Estate Primary School, with Ms Clarke hoping to introduce students to basic crafting skills.

Group member Glenda Nichol said the group was also a place for those wanting to learn a new skill.
“I asked a couple of people if they would like to come... and one lady said to me, ‘Well, I don't know how to’,” she said.
“I said if you would like to come, I or someone else would teach you.”
