A man has died following a crash between a truck and a bicycle near the border of NSW and Victoria last month.
About 10.30am Wednesday, December 8, emergency services were called to Thyra Rd, near the corner of Ham Rd, Moama following reports a cyclist had been hit by a Volvo truck.
The cyclist — a 79-year old man — was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition.
Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit, who are investigating, were advised the man died in hospital on Wednesday, December 29.
The 53 year-old Melbourne truck driver was charged at Deniliquin Police Station on the day of the crash, for dangerous driving occasion grievous bodily harm and negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm).
His driver’s licence was also suspended.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Deniliquin Local Court on Tuesday, February 8.

Woman charged with assault
A 47 year-old Deniliquin woman has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault following an incident on Wednesday.
Police said the woman had been arguing with her 52 year-old de facto partner when she allegedly threw a screwdriver.
It reportedly hit his leg, causing injury.
The woman has also been issued with a provisional apprehended violence order, pending a court appearance.
