Rochester Business Network is now co-ordinating the market and is expecting a large crowd for the event.
Megan Weeks, who is playing a key role in organising the event, said the RBN was hoping to have 40 stall holders at the event.
“We have had a heap of interest in the last week. There should be something for everyone, but especially the kids,” she said.
RBN has made a special effort to provide free children’s activities for the street market, which could be extended if Campaspe Shire Council approval is given in the coming days.
“Our plan is to run the event on both Mackay and Gillies Sts. Previously it has only been Gillies St between Moore and Mackay St,” Ms Weeks said.
“We are trying to close both streets. It is with council’s traffic management team at the moment.”
The twilight markets will not only feature a variety of handmade products, along with the usual range of food vendors, but it will also have a musical element, as Brian Morgan and his Ministers Association are planning a carols spectacular.
“As I understand it, Brian and his team will be in the Rotunda Park with Christmas carols, adding to the atmosphere,” Ms Weeks said.
She said the intention of the RBN was to provide a community activity with lots of free entertainment for children and an opportunity for people to ‘shop local’ for their Christmas gifts.
