Young athletes shine at Mini Olympics

Echuca East Primary School hosted its annual Mini Olympics on Tuesday, September 2.

The Mini Olympics runs in conjunction with the school’s athletics carnival, giving the younger students a fun introduction to the world of sporting carnivals.

Caiden Draper and Elliott Tuxworth made a perfect team for the three-legged race.

The day saw Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students take to the field to compete in a range of activities.

Students were divided into teams led by the Year 6 school leaders, who guided activities, cheered on their teams and helped the younger students navigate the day.

Each team was led by a Year 6 school leader.

The field events included shuttle run relays, three-legged races, partner blindfold races, sack races, an obstacle course, egg and spoon races and many more.

The students were enthusiastic and enjoyed the friendly competition with their peers.

Euna Grael Terpaken reached new heights during the sack race.

Echuca East Primary School PE teacher Ben Holmfield organised the event for the junior students.
