Kiwi golfer Kit Bittle was still in disbelief when he came to Shepparton BMW to collect his luxury car following his efforts during The Player Series Murray River.
“It still hasn’t sunk in,” he said.
“It’s like winning the lottery.
“It’s something that doesn’t happen.”
While Mr Bittle was excited, he will not be able to take the vehicle, which is worth around $140,000, home to New Zealand due to high tariffs.
However, he views selling the car as a way to support his golfing career for the next three years.
“It’s a weight off my shoulders,” he said.
Mr Bittle expressed his gratitude towards BMW Australia, saying, “the opportunity that has come from this is huge”.
The up-and-coming player is competing in his first season on the ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia.
Shepparton BMW dealer principal Aaron Brain congratulated Mr Bittle, acknowledging the difficulties professional golfers face.
“It’s a tough career,” he said.
“I’m very excited to see Kit use this (money) for his career.”
Mr Brain also spoke of BMW Australia’s commitment to promoting golf, especially for juniors.
“We’re right behind supporting different sorts of events, and golf is a big part of our portfolio,” he said.
Mr Bittle’s achievement serves as a reminder that with hard work, dedication and a bit of luck, even the smallest victories can lead to significant rewards.
