Police Eastern Region Division 3 divisional commander Superintendent Brett Kahan said the arrests came after an alleged “crime spree” throughout Greater Shepparton towns starting a couple of days prior.
This involved the alleged theft of multiple vehicles and alleged break-ins at multiple homes in several different towns.
Supt Kahan said what happened on Wednesday was a “planned police response” and he praised the officers involved.
“I couldn’t have been more proud of my officers,” he said.
“They were tenacious towards stopping them and arresting them.”
Supt Kahan said police continued to make assessments throughout the day, with the time they made the arrests considered the safest time to do so.
A 19-year-old Mooroopna man and 20-year-old Shepparton man were still being interviewed by police on Thursday afternoon.
