A number of wooden spools of copper were taken from the compound at 3.30am on Thursday, February 24.
CCTV footage caught three offenders in an older model white dual-cab utility towing a caged box trailer forcing their way into the locked compound.
The offenders used a chain which they attached from their vehicle to the door of the container and continued to drive forward until the force of the acceleration opened the doors.
Wooden spools of copper wire were loaded on to the back of the trailer.
The vehicle then travelled west on Lawson Rd and then south on to Cobwell St.
“It is quite rare that anything like that would happen in Barham,” Inspector Paul Huggett of the Murray River Police district said.
Insp Huggett said officers from the Murray River Police district regularly conducted inquiries with scrap metal buyers and recyclers to see if there was any unusual sales activity.
Anyone who has information about the theft should contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote reference E86228914.
