Their cross-town rivals the Dolphins on the other hand have five players in the Maroons side for game two of the Origin series in Melbourne.
Broncos fullback Reece Walsh has been named on the six-man extended bench in the No.18 jersey but is no certainty to see action.
For the Broncos, it is a far cry from the halcyon days of domination of the Maroons side. In game one and game three of the 2002 series, Brisbane had a record 11 players in the Queensland side.
One of Queensland's most famous wins, the 40-14 win in the 2001 decider, boasted nine Broncos and Warrington's Allan Langer, a Brisbane legend.
The Broncos had one player compete in the 22-20 loss in Sydney in game one this year with forward Pat Carrigan coming off the bench. Gehamat Shibasaki and Ezra Mam were unused bench members.
Carrigan is now injured, Shibasaki has suffered a series-ending knee injury and Mam has been dropped.
When the Broncos, founded in 1988, took out the wooden spoon in 2020 their only Maroons representative was winger Xavier Coates. He played in the opening two matches of the series but was injured in the decider and did not play in the 20-14 win to leave the Broncos without a Queensland player.
Coates was also the only Bronco in the opening two matches of the 2021 series when Brisbane were still in the NRL doldrums and finished 14th.
No Broncos players lined up in the 1995 and 1997 Origin series, but that was due to the Super League conflict.
Brisbane are defending premiers but have slipped to 12th on the ladder this year after five consecutive losses.
Instead it is former Broncos stars and current Dolphins such as Selwyn Cobbo and Thomas Flegler, along with ex-train and trial hopeful Max Plath, who have soared into the Maroons team.
The Dolphins, now a threat to Brisbane's roster and traditional dominance, have won their past five to sit fifth on the ladder.
Dolphins second-rower Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, who has thrived under coach Kristian Woolf, will make his Maroons debut in Melbourne.
"Kristian Woolf needs a huge wrap for the development of some of his players," Maroons coach Billy Slater said.
"The reason they're sitting where they are (on the ladder) is because of the environment they're in and Kuli is a beneficiary of that.
"I'm looking forward to getting him out there in a Queensland jersey."
Walsh, the only Broncos representative, also has the backing of the Maroons coach.
"He's built a really good game. If needed, I'm sure he'll go out there and perform," Slater said.
