Sitting another world away in Manchester, England, Pearse is counting down the days until he begins the Para World Championships in London, his first event representing the Australian Dolphins.
For the 16-year-old, it is a dream come true to be in an international competition.
"I’m really excited to be swimming as an Australian Dolphin for the first time," he said.
"This is the first meet I've been a part of overseas, so it's a fantastic opportunity for me to be a part of."
Days out from the event, Pearse is currently training for his three events, while also getting used to being around the Australian team.
"I’m at the staging camp in Manchester at the moment," he said.
"It's a great opportunity to swim with me teammates and get learn from them, it's helping me to really get ready for swimming on the international stage.
"It's been a great experience so far and I’m looking forward to seeing what results I can achieve in the pool."
The event - which was originally scheduled for Malaysia but moved to London earlier this year - begins on September 9, with Pearse's first event - the 200m individual medley - taking place on September 10.
For one of the first times ever, the events will be televised into Australia via the Seven network.
