Rich River
One week on from the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division finals, and with Easter approaching, many of our bowlers’ attention has focused on heading north for the winter to enjoy the sunshine and play bowls in different conditions to those in our region.
There are still many opportunities to bowl in this region as many clubs have scheduled their annual tournaments during April, May and June. We encourage our bowlers to support these events, after many had to be cancelled during 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2021 Women's Country Bowls Carnival is being held in the Echuca-Moama area between April 18 and 23. Many of the clubs in the CVBD, including Rich River Bowling Club on Monday April 19, will be hosting events during this period, so please come along and support all the bowlers participating.
This is being followed by the Moama Bowls Club May Carnival scheduled for May 8 to 14. Our club will also be hosting games throughout that event.
We will also be the venue for the RSL Edinburgh Shield over the weekend of May 22 and 23 with all three greens required from 9am on each of those days.
Volunteers will be required for all of these tournaments with further details advised closer to the dates.
We will be starting up social mixed bowls from Saturday, April 10 starting at 12.30pm for those members who want to come along and enjoy a light-hearted friendly game.
This will continue each Saturday as long as it is supported and weather permitting.
An entry sheet will be placed on the notice board this week for those interested in participating.
Men's Wednesday Jackpot Pairs will continue throughout the year subject to entries and prevailing conditions, while the Ladies Tuesday Social Bowls will continue until April 27 after which time indoor bowls will start in early May.
Rich River Bowling Club's 2020/21 Annual General Meeting is being held on Thursday, April 22 at 2.30pm for which nominations for positions are being sorted with forms for those nominating submitted by Thursday, April 1 at 5pm.
Please consider being part of our committee to assist in developing the growth of our club into the future and being a "Go To" destination at which to enjoy playing bowls, socialising, being successful and enjoying the benefits we have to offer at this facility.
Outstanding club championship games for the Men's 21-Up and Men's Pairs need to be played at the earliest opportunity so it would be appreciated if these could be finalised without any further delays.
Great to see both Peter Moon and Bill McEwan up and about again, with both the recipients of new hips over recent weeks. We look forward to seeing them back out on the greens in the near future.
