The Blues were on their home courts at Picola Recreation Reserve as they rushed rapidly out to a lead, holding an 18-3 advantage by quarter-time.
Blighty had a better run of scoring in the second, but still found itself trailing heavily at the half, Picola winning the period 16-7 to lead by 24 goals at the main break.
The Blues didn’t let up in the second half, piling on another 30 scores to the visitor’s 11 to pick up a comprehensive victory 64-21.
Having won two straight against the league’s current bottom two, Picola now finds itself holding on to the last spot within the eight.
To keep that placing, the Blues will need to get by the team directly below them on the ladder, Jerilderie, when the two sides face off at Monash Park on Saturday.
The Demons have a winning record, getting up in two of their three fixtures.
Mathoura v Waaia
Mathoura slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat to start the year, the Cutters defeated by Waaia 35-19 at Mathoura Recreation Reserve.
The Bombers’ connections proved too swift for the Cutters in the early going, as the visitor got out to a 12-5 lead by quarter-time.
Mathoura found more success defensively in the second, but Waaia would win the period 8-4 to lead 20-9 at half-time.
The third again saw a four-goal margin between the sides, while the Cutters managed another strong defensive effort in the fourth to lose the period by a single goal, 6-5.
Mathoura’s next game will be against league newcomer Dookie United, as the two face off at Dookie Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
