Barrat is one of 28 players selected to the Vic Country squad that will take part in the 2022 NAB AFL National Development Championships starting this month.
The young forward has come through the junior ranks at Leitchville-Gunbower and has been playing for both the Bombers and Bendigo Pioneers under-16 team in the NAB League this season.
Leitchville-Gunbower coach Tim Bannan said Barrat had plenty of skills that would help him succeed at the next level.
“He’s a great young kid. He is very athletic, he takes the ball at the highest point and he can kick the ball a hell of a long way,” Bannan said.
“He is a beautiful mark overhead and he has a great kick on him too.
“He’s a kid that thrives on work rate. He works hard and he deserves it.”
He made his senior debut for the Bombers last season at the age of 14 and has played two senior games in L-G’s red, black and gold this season.
Barrat kicked four goals in his first game for LG against Elmore in round seven and was named as one of the best on ground.
Barrat was selected to the Vic Country squad alongside Bendigo Pioneers teammates Jack Ough (Wentworth) and Toby Travaglia (Sandhurst).
Vic Country will take the field in its first match this weekend on Saturday, June 11 when its faces off against Vic Metro at IKON Park in Melbourne.
Ten teams will take part in the 2022 NAB AFL National Development Championships: Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns, GWS Giants, Northern Territory, South Australia, Vic Country, Vic Metro, Sydney Swans, Tasmania and Western Australia.
