Magpies youth girls coach Matt Mackay and players Grace McMillan and Payton Hearn were at the bowling club to present sales and marketing manager George Santos with his own jumper to say thank you.
The bowling club’s sponsorship will help provide crucial financial support for Moama’s youth girls team, with the money going towards jerseys, balls and other training equipment.
MJFC president Ben Hearn said the support from the bowling was fantastic and it would help the team continue to grow and thrive.
“It really gives the youth girls that importance and structure around being financial enough to get themselves jumpers and all the gear that they need to settle into the Northern Country Women’s League,” Mr Hearn said.
“It will help us with ordering new jumpers for the girls and also getting the coaches and helpers more materials — more footballs and more training aides that they’ve asked for that will really help them keep developing.
“They have gone from 12 players from when we started up to over 20 now so the sponsorship has really been a key part of that development.”
Mr Hearn thanked the bowling club for its support and said it had been one of the keys to helping the team take flight.
“It’s a brilliant relationship, George and all the staff here have kept a really close eye on the youth girls since they started,” he said.
“They have been huge supporters of them not just through sponsorship, but also awareness and promoting women in sport and they have had a big part to play in the success of that side and the enjoyment that the girls get out of it.”
Mr Santos said the bowling club was excited to continue its support of the team and said it was important to support women’s sport.
“It’s vital for us to promote sport equally, especially amongst young ladies nowadays,” Mr Santos said.
“It’s vital for us to support sport across all ages and across both genders.”
The Magpies kicked off their season last week with an impressive win against Echuca United.
Moama will be back in action this weekend when it takes on the Shepparton Swans at John Riordon Reserve Princess Park at 12.45pm on Sunday.
