The Torrumbarry talent returned from a 10-week shoulder injury lay-off to first win his singles rubber in the association decider, before teaming up with clubmate Roxanne Dicketts to win the mixed doubles at Echuca’s annual Easter tournament.
Kingma and Dicketts defeated John and Annabel Hampson 6-3 in the final.
Following that triumph was more success at junior events for the 13-year-old, who first took out the under-14s doubles at a J125 tournament in Swan Hill alongside Kade Starling.
In the final, Kingma and Starling took the first set 6-1 against Eric Baskarada and Liam Brown before the opposing duo retired at 1-0 down in the second set.
But it was the ETC duo’s run to make the decider that stood out, the unseeded Kingma and Starling knocking out the number one, three, and four seeds on the way to the final.
A week later, Kingma was at it again by claiming the A-grade men’s doubles title at another J125 tournament in Bendigo, playing alongside Sid Vijay.
Kingma and Vijay, the number two seeded pairing, took apart one-seeded Henry Grattan and Fraser Waugh in the final in devastating fashion by winning 8-1.
Prodigy Kingma’s recent accolades are made more significant by coming not long after the lengthy injury, the shoulder being particularly important for tennis players, given the reliance placed on it to serve and hit ground strokes.
Kingma is currently playing for Sunbury in the North Suburban Junior Tennis Association, and is expected to continue to feature in more tournaments across Victoria and NSW.
