Echuca has slipped into fourth position on the GVL senior football ladder and will do all it can to get one last win of the home and away season against Mooroopna in round 18.
Meanwhile, the A-grade Murray Bombers need to beat the Cats to secure the sixth and last finals position, if they lose, there’s a chance they can be leapfrogged by Shepparton United.
The senior footballers will begin their match at 2pm with the netballers starting at 2.15pm at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
The MFL situation is cut-and-dry, a win over Numurkah at home will secure a top-two finish for Moama’s senior footballers, while Tongala and Echuca United will finish their 2025 campaigns on home soil against Mulwala and Deniliquin, respectively.
Murray Netball League is a different kettle of fish, as the Magpies and Blues’ last games of the home and away season will directly affect the finals race.
Because Tongala sits half a game ahead of Moama, Numurkah and Deniliquin in fourth, the Blues cannot fall out of the finals, but could easily slip out of the top four if they lose.
With fifth-placed Moama and sixth-placed Numurkah playing each other in round 18, whoever wins is guaranteed to make the finals and could take Tongala’s place, while the loser is in danger of slipping out entirely depending if Deniliquin can beat Echuca United.
The A-graders will be the first cab off the rank at 1.30pm with the senior footballers playing at 2pm.
While Lockington-Bamawm United has ended its season in senior football and A-grade netball, Leitchville-Gunbower’s footballers will be in a HDFL elimination final this weekend.
The Bombers will face Huntly at North Bendigo Oval at 2.15pm in a win-or-go-home contest, with the season head-to-head record at one win apiece.
Bendigo Amateur Soccer League’s season is almost at an end, with the Border Raiders’ Central Victorian League 1 women’s side and CVL 2 men’s sides away from home this Saturday for round 14.
The women will travel to La Trobe University Sports Park Bundoora to face the Eagles at noon, while the men will meet the Colts at Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve at 5pm.
The B-grade men will be the only Echuca-Moama Hockey Club team in action on Saturday, playing Shepparton Youth Club at 3.30pm.
Meanwhile, the A-grade men will play round seven of the Regional Hockey League against Senjuns at 2pm and the Echuca White women and Echuca Green women will go head-to-head at noon on Sunday.
