Headlining Saturday’s action is Echuca’s clashes with Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley League, both fixtures seeing two premiership contenders face off at Deakin Reserve, with senior football starting at 2pm and A-grade netball from 2.15pm.
In the Murray league, Moama travels to Finley Recreation Reserve on Saturday to face the Cats, the Magpies seeking three straight wins in senior football at 2pm, while their A-grade netball side is eyeing four in a row at 1.30pm.
Echuca United is in a different predicament ahead of a meeting with Cobram on Saturday, as both Eagles sides look to snap poor runs of form at Echuca South Recreation Reserve, with senior football at 2pm and A-grade netball from 1.30pm.
Meanwhile, Tongala is in action against Rumbalara on Saturday at Mercury Drive, Shepparton, with the Blues’ football side looking to return to the winners’ list at 2pm, while the netballers aim for three consecutive wins at 1.30pm.
In the Heathcote District Football Netball League, Lockington-Bamawm United has two tests against Colbinabbin on Saturday at Lockington Recreation Reserve, the senior football clash at 2.20pm between finals contenders, while the Cats are heavy underdogs for A-grade netball at 1.30pm.
Elsewhere, Leitchville-Gunbower takes on North Bendigo on Saturday at Gunbower Recreation Reserve, with ladder positions suggesting both matches will be well-fought, as senior football begins at 2.20pm and A-grade netball from 2.30pm.
In the Picola District Football Netball League, Picola United faces Berrigan on Saturday at Picola Recreation Reserve, with both Blues sides looking to bounce back from consecutive losses, as senior football begins at 2.05pm and A-grade netball at 1.30pm.
Both Mathoura sides enter their matches against Tocumwal with the same ambition — each winless in 2026 — as senior football starts at 2.05pm and A-grade netball from 1.30pm, on Saturday at Mathoura Recreation Reserve.
Mathoura’s sides will contest the inaugural Harry McCormick Memorial Cup against Tocumwal in the Picola District Football Netball League on Saturday.
The matches will take on extra significance as the clubs compete for the inaugural Harry McCormick Memorial Cup to honour late Timbercutter Harry McCormick, marking five years since he died in a car crash aged 16.
Soccer
The Echuca Moama Border Raiders men are expected to return to the pitch this Saturday after La Trobe University forfeited last weekend, with the side — currently second on the ladder — playing Castlemaine Goldfields Gold at Jack Eddy Oval, starting at 3pm.
Meanwhile, the Border Raiders women are serving a bye this weekend.
Women’s football
Moama’s youth girls and women’s sides will again play the same opponent in a Friday night double header, taking on Nathalia at Moama Recreation Reserve.
The girls have their eye on extending a perfect start to the season at 6.30pm, with the women following directly afterwards at 8pm, looking for a fifth straight win against a plucky Purples outfit.
Hockey
All four Echuca Moama Hockey Club sides will be in action this weekend in Goulburn Valley Hockey Association, headlined by the women taking on Mooroopna at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex on Saturday in a top-of-the-table clash, which starts at 1.15pm.
Meanwhile, the River Rats’ men play shortly after at the same location, set for a meeting with Goulburn Valley Grammar School at 2.45pm as they return from a bye.
