Despite heavy rain in the morning, tournament secretary Rhonda changed the format to 2 bowl triples and proceeded with fingers crossed that the weather cleared, which thankfully it did.

Last week’s mini bingo again failed to go off, so the Jackpot is $2325 tonight at drinks to celebrate a very successful May Carnival between 4 and 6pm.
The member's draw of $120 was won by Mal Thorn who was slaving away behind the bar and gleefully accepted the rise in pay.
Members draw is back to $40 tonight.

AGM 2026-27
The AGM was held last Thursday evening, April 30.
Thank you to the many members who attended.
Toni Beck thanked the outgoing committee for their support over the past 12 months and also the many volunteers who have helped out when called upon to assist during the year.
The new committee was formed with new president Mark (Bill) Prendergast at the helm.
Bill has big shoes to fill after taking over from Toni Beck, who has taken a step back this year after being president for the past three years.
Members thanked Toni for her tireless work and commitment to her the club during this time.
Bill has the support of the committee and members, and Rich River Bowls Club will continue to be successful moving forward.
Moama May Carnival
Due to the Moama May Carnival commencing this Saturday, May 9, there will be no social bowls on Wednesday, May 13 and Saturday, May 16.
Open Social Bowls will still be running on Tuesday, May 12 for any members to come and have a roll.

Presentation Night

We had 15 members present, welcome to life member Joe Murphy.
The committee had received no nominations for position on the committee.
The serving committee had committed to serving again this season, with the exception of secretary Gayle Kerr.
We thank Gayle for her service as secretary/treasurer, as we all know these positions are a tough gig.

Friday, May 1 was the penultimate day of play for this season’s social bowls.
10 bowlers enjoyed perfect conditions, playing two games of singles.
The winner for the day was Joan Limbrick – congratulations.
Next Friday will be the last day of morning social bowls. After that, the format will change to drawn pairs on the Friday afternoon. Full details next week.

Lockington Bowls Club
Another exciting week of bowls on the greens at Lockington.
Week two of the three-week pie and soup two-bowl triples series attracted another 84 bowlers (28 teams) to take on the challenge.
Clubs represented included Cohuna Golf, Echuca, Elmore, Ky Valley View, Lockington, Mathoura, Moama, Rochester, Serpentine, Stanhope, Tongala, and Tumburumba.
At the conclusion of the scheduled game of 12 ends, followed by two games of eight ends, there were three teams undefeated.
The winners were decided on wins and shots up.
The Ky Valley View/Lockington composite trio comprising Denise Gilmore, Barry Chalk, Tim Leahy (s) were declared the winners, scoring three wins +19 shots ahead of the Echuca team of Eddie Blamped, Toby Egan, John Dinsdale (s), three wins +18 shots up.
In a battle for third, there was a countback situation between an Elmore trio and another Echuca team.
The lengthy countback favoured the Elmore bowlers in Alan Heywood, Janet Sinclair, Ken Wills (s) on three wins +9 shots and 17 ends to take third prize money.
The gallant Echuca triples combination including Paul Leach, Andrew Humphrys, Neil Dovaston (s) tallied three wins +9 shots and 14 ends.
The lucky card draw favoured: Best lead — Jenny Dicker (Tongala), best third — Nolene Brown (Cohuna Golf), best skipper — Michael Carmody (Cohuna Golf/Serpentine).
There were several lucky bowlers to win a raffle prize sponsored by the overall day sponsors including Foodworks - Lockington, O'Connors - Case at Sturt Street, Echuca, and Auto-Barn in Echuca. Please support our sponsors.
The Stanhope bowlers collected on the day along with Leon Laffy and Sue Harris. A very successful tournament.
The club thanked all concerned in the fine running of the day of bowls and especially the marvellous efforts from Brian Kinnane, Shane Felmingham, and Cindy Felmingham in organising the field and assisting with the draw.
Max McInnes was also acknowledged for his work ethic in the kitchen chores - stirring the soup, washing the crockery, and general cleaning. Four hours on the job, thanks Max.
This Wednesday will be the final day of the pie and soup two-bowl triples.
It is also the major week for the Echuca Bowling Club May Carnival. It would be pleasing to reciprocate for their consistent entries for our club's events.
On Tuesday, the women held their weekly social bowls. The winners on the day were Mary Thomas, Lorraine Appleby, Pauline Humbert, and Sue Harris.

Rochester Golf Club
Wednesday’s 9-hole Stableford was played on the front nine.
The winner was Chris Trewin with 22 points, followed by Greg Watkins on 21 points on a countback from Kevin McCormack.
Last Friday, the ladies played nine holes of Stableford over the front 9.
Ladies captain Barb McCarty welcomed Sally Parker and Karen Niven, who were playing their first competitive round since taking up golf seriously.
Captain McCarty showed how it was done by winning on 18 points against the ever-consistent Julie Leahy, with Leahy winning nearest the pins on both the fifth and eighth holes.
One of the club's major trophy events is the men's singles match play title.
Last Saturday, players competed in a stroke round to qualify for their best eight net scores over 18 holes.
Captain Darren White easily qualified with a handicap breaking score of 83 net 68, closely followed by veteran Bruce Major, 89 (69), and other good scores and qualifiers and ball winners were Mark Walsh and Bruce Bryant, both net 70; Troy McInnes, Steve Bubb, Dick Feuk, and Les Hedington, all on net 71.
Former Rochester resident Shane Wolfe also broke his handicap, 93 net 70.
Nearest the pin winners were on the third, Shane Connelly, Walsh on five, Robert Ralph eight, 16th was Major, and Steve Bubb hit a miraculous shot from under the trees to be closest to the pin on the 18th scrape.
The draw for the next round of the singles match play is as follows: Darren White vs Grant Robinson, Mark Walsh vs Les Hedington, Bruce Bryant vs Dick Feuk, and Troy McInnes vs Steve Bubb.
The club's annual tournament starts in two weeks, with the ladies four-ball on Thursday, May 14, followed by the popular men's four-ball on Friday, May 15.
Lockington Golf Club
May 1 – Stableford
There was another good turnout, with new golfers enjoying some coaching with Kevin Humbert.
Phyll Macfarlane played a terrific round to finish with 41 points and win the Locky Foodworks player of the day voucher.
Fiona Newton was also in excellent form to score 40 points and finished runner-up, and capped off her round by winning the nearest-the-pin.
Jenny Holt was in solid form to get 19 points to be the best of the nine-hole players.
May 2 – Par
Ron Dixon made it back-to-back player of the day vouchers with a great score of +6.
He also won division two ahead of Tom Scurrah, who played a super-consistent round to finish with +5. Division one honours went to Steve Holt (+2).
Nearest the pins: Third – Ron Dixon; second shot on the 11th – Trav Mancer, Steve Holt; second shot on the 18th for the six-pack smack – Grant Humbert.

Bamawm Golf Club
On Sunday we hosted the annual Kelly Shield competition, with teams from Lockington, Pyramid Hill, and Mitiamo coming along to compete for the shield.
Unfortunately due to inclement weather early in the day the ladies teams decided to pull out, but the men stuck it out and after some early rain enjoyed a nice afternoon on the course.
Winner of the scratch was Todd Loutitt with 74 and winner of the nett with a fantastic 82-20-62 was Harry Condliffe, and Gary Milligan was runner-up on 75-10-65.
The Kelly Shield was closely contested with the home team winning on 506.
Runners up Lockington finished on 511, in third place was Mitiamo on 516, and then Pyramid Hill on 534.
It was a great day; thanks to Mitiamo, Lockington, and Pyramid Hill.

Six Members arrived for a couple of fun games.

21 Members and guests played three games.
The first two games were in cool conditions, but by the third game coats came off.
Winner for the day was Vince Jessen winning three games with a +11.

Golf Croquet – April 30
16 members competed in doubles croquet this morning with two players winning all three games Sid Gomes-Vieira and Pat Rice.
Congratulations to the winner, Pat Rice scoring three games +13 hoops and the runner-up Sid Gomes-Vieira scoring three games +1 hoop.
Sid Gomes-Vieira made two hoops-in-one this morning and Carmel Rice made one.
Helen Smith and Russell Clarke both made successful jump shots.
Year 10 Students from Moama Anglican Grammar School during the month of May are learning to play croquet at Rich River Croquet Club.
They were quick to learn the rules of the game and developed their croquet skills.
