The association will field seven teams, five boys and two girls, in the under-13 to under-17 age groups.
It is expecting to feature prominently in the finals on Thursday, following the three qualifying rounds which begin on Monday.
GMC junior co-ordinator Marcus Maher said the association always acquitted itself well, in what was an extremely strong and competitive competition.
“The standard of cricket is very high and we are expecting some good results from our teams,” Maher said.
There are six other associations involved in the carnival, stretching from Bendigo to Gisborne, Shepparton to Sunraysia and Seymour to the Murray Valley.
Bendigo and Shepparton are considered two of the strongest junior cricket associations in country Victoria and will provide a significant challenge to the GMC teams.
Three qualifying games will be played from Monday to Wednesday and then a finals of the respective divisions are at Goulburn Murray Cricket venues on Thursday.
Goulburn Murray Cricket junior players have had four rounds to warm up for the tournament in the under-16, 14 and under-12 age groups.
Oscar Richards and Archie Teasdale will lead the charge for the under-15 team, coached by Kirk Teasdale.
Top-order batsman Richards will hopefully arrive with plenty of runs on the board, with opening-bat Teasdale having retired in every club game this year and fresh from a week-long tournament at Dubbo.
Teasdale had a good week with the bat at the NSW Youth Cricket Championships. He will be a key to the success of the under-15 team in the tournament.
The second of the Teasdale brothers, Jordie, will open the bowling at under-13 level in the team coached by Ben Mason.
He has taken seven wickets in the opening weeks of the GMC junior competition, including a haul of 4-5.
James Mason will also feature in the under-13, the opening batsmen also having participated in the Dubbo tournament with the regional squad.
He also has not been dismissed, batters limited to 30 deliveries.
Rob Hogan will coach the under-16 team and Daryl Holgate is in charge of the under-14 squad.
The coach of the under-17 team is Wayne O’Neill, while the girls teams are led by Brendan Martin (under-14) and Justin Guppy (under-17).
The Riv will be following the tournament all week, with full results from the qualifying rounds and the finals available during the week.
