Moama’s bowling unit, particularly Anthony McMahon, was on song in round eight crashing through Rochester for a meagre total in Goulburn Murray Cricket’s round seven.

The McMahon Shield clash at Moama Recreation Reserve looked to be an intriguing one, pitting last year’s grand finalist against this year’s unbeaten leader, but the devastating Moama bowling ensured a quick outing for both sides.

Rochester batted first after winning the toss and it was Rhys Drennan who made the first breakthrough for the Mowers, removing Tim Bubb for five.
McMahon then started his masterclass, removing Brandon Byrne and Sean Williams within three balls of each other in the eighth over, before adding Oliver Williams to his tally in his next.

Entering at 3-9, which quickly became 4-10, Rochester captain Angus Martin sensed the need to get something going and went on an all-out attack in his innings.
He would hit five fours and two sixes, scoring almost exclusively via the boundary, to push his side towards some sort of respectability, but eventually ran out of luck and departed for 44 from 39.
Rhys Drennan took a useful 2-17.

There were a couple of double figure efforts from the lower order, but Rochester finished the innings with an undefendable total of 89 runs.
McMahon put together mind-boggling figures of 7.3 overs, five maidens, 5-2.
Angus Martin was the only Rochester batter to put an innings together, making an attacking 44.

As expected, the league leader didn’t have too much trouble hunting down the total.
The second-wicket pairing of Fraser Buchanan (21) and Joel Murphy (34 not out) got most of the job done, while Murphy then partnered with Kobyn James (17) to reach 3-91 within 19 overs.

Sean Williams, Cale James and Jesse Cuttriss took wickets for Rochester.
A perfect 6-0 and with a healthy quotient, Moama stands alone atop the ladder after BLU fell at the weekend to now equal second-placed Echuca South.
Rochester (3-4) is out of the top four and still has a bye to sit through in two weeks.
This week, Rochy plays a grand final rematch against Echuca, while form would predict another victory for Moama as it travels to winless Nondies-Cohuna.
Anthony McMahon took three wickets in seven balls early.
