Moama, Kyabram Fire Brigade, Bamawm-Lockington United and Echuca South will battle it out for the top honour, with the Echuca dynasty halted after it missed out on the post-season this year.
Having finished on top in the regular season with 14 wins from 16 games, Moama will host the fourth-seeded Kyabram at Moama Recreation Reserve on Saturday, beginning at 11am.
The Flames will be looking to go one step further after their season ended at this stage last year, when they also entered the post-season as the fourth seed and thus travelled away for their semi-final.
Moama is attempting to do likewise, this time with the benefit of home advantage after losing away to Echuca at this stage in 2025.
The Mowers won both meetings between the two teams in the regular season, victorious by eight wickets at Kyabram in round one before cruising to a 132-run victory in round 12.
Meanwhile, Bamawm-Lockington hosts Echuca South at Bamawm Recreation Reserve on Saturday, beginning at 11am.
BLU narrowly missed out on the finals last season, but has improved greatly this time around to not only enter the post-season, but secure home advantage in the semi-finals by finishing second.
Opponent Echuca South could have been hosting this match-up instead, but a last round defeat to Kyabram means the Swans will travel and take the more difficult route to finals glory.
The two sides split the head-to-head this season, with Echuca South winning by four wickets in round seven and BLU claiming a comfortable seven-wicket triumph in round 16.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the McMahon Shield grand final at Moama Recreation Reserve, scheduled for Sunday, March 8 at 11am.
Bowls
All weekend pennant preliminary finals will take place at Lockington Bowls Club, beginning at 1.30pm.
Moama takes on Stanhope in the division one preliminary final.
The Steamers enter the do-or-die clash off the back of a qualifying semi-final loss to Echuca last weekend, while Stanhope eliminated Kyabram in the other semi-final.
The two sides met in last year’s grand final, where Moama narrowly triumphed 14-57 to 2-54.
This season, despite Moama finishing higher on the ladder, Stanhope won both previous meetings between the two sides.
The winner of this third clash will face Echuca in the decider at Moama Bowling Club, scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 1.30pm.
In the division two weekend pennant, Stanhope faces Echuca.
In division three, Moama will play Echuca.
Echuca remains alive in each of the top four divisions, taking on Kyabram in division four.
It’s an all-Deniliquin affair in division five, as Deniliquin Blue plays Deniliquin White.
Tennis
It’s the last round of the regular season in the Campaspe Tennis Association seniors this weekend, as all four teams get a final tune-up ahead of the semi-finals on March 14.
League leader Echuca 1 faces Lockington-Bamawm United in a likely semi-final preview, while it’s a similar situation with Echuca 2 taking on Rochester.
All matches will take place at Echuca Tennis Club from 1pm this Saturday.
Women’s cricket
Moama faces Echuca in the Goulburn Murray Cricket Women’s grand final this Sunday at Moama Recreation Reserve, beginning at 10am.
Echuca is aiming to be crowned champion again after taking out the title in 2024, while Moama looks to cap a dominant season with silverware after it won nine of 12 games and recorded a quotient of over two.
The two teams met on only one occasion this season, back in round nine, when Moama won handily by eight wickets.
Last year’s edition of the GMC Women’s decider was a classic, with Mooroopna claiming victory with only three balls remaining, and we could be set for another spectacle between the two best teams in the regular season.
