The Moama Magpies will be looking to consolidate third spot on the ladder this weekend but they will face tricky opposition in fellow top-six side Congupna.
The Magpies have won four on the trot, while the Road have won five consecutive games themselves, including a 26-point win over Tongala in round nine.
The clash between two of the Murray League’s top six is just one of the big fixtures set, with undefeated sides Cobram and Mulwala also going head-to-head.
Both the Tigers and Lions have vanquished all that have come before them in 2022, but one side will taste defeat for the first time this season on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Echuca United will be hoping to cause an upset when it travels to take on the Deniliquin Rams.
United came close to causing an upset last week after holding an 11-point lead over Moama at half time, but the young Eagles ran out of steam in the second half, with Moama winning by 38 points.
The Eagles will be hoping for an improved performance since the last time the two sides met, with the Rams winning by 107 points back in round two.
It will be a tough challenge for the Eagles on the netball court too as they come up against an undefeated Rams side who sit in top spot on the ladder.
Elsewhere, Moama will hope to keep its top-four aspirations alive when it takes on seventh-placed Congupna.
Magpies A-grade coach Lisa Drysdale said her side wouldn’t be taking Congupna lightly.
“They are someone we will not underestimate,” Drysdale said. “We’ll aim to play one-on-one and we will aim to get that win.
“Congupna have been really pushing hard against Barooga and Mulwala, and I think if they can get some upsets against some of the teams around them they may even look to push to sixth spot.”
In other netball action, two of the league’s premiership contenders Rumbalara and Nathalia will face off on Saturday.
Rumba (9-1) sits second on the ladder, with Nathalia (8-1-1) just behind them in third, in a tightly packed top-five.
Drysdale said her side knew it was going to be a tight battle at the top.
“We predicted earlier in the year that there would be a very strong five or six at the top of the ladder,” she said. “It’s a good feeling knowing we are in that top-six category.”
Moama has faced Rumbalara twice this season, with the Magpies losing on both occasions.
Drysdale said she thought Rumbalara were going to be a team to watch out for in the second half of the season.
“I think on a good day Rumbalara are going to be very hard to beat,” she said. “They are only one game off top spot, and they have proven that they are very strong and very versatile.
“Rumbalara are a strong unit and they are just getting better and better with their young ones.”
