Moama’s reserves footballers and under-17 netballers will take part in their respective deciders this Saturday after earning wins over Mulwala and Deniliquin.
In the football, the Magpies claimed their third win over Mulwala this year with a convincing 52-point win at Deniliquin.
The Pies limited their opponents to just one behind in the second term and held them scoreless in the final quarter on their way to a 12.10 (82) to 4.6 (30) triumph.
Holding a 14-point lead at quarter time, Moama’s three goals to Mulwala’s lone behind saw the Pies open up a 35-point advantage.
Still up by five goals heading into the third term, a strong defensive effort to keep the Lions off the scoreboard capped off a resounding win that will see the Pies take on Tongala in the grand final on Saturday.
Matthew Veitch was the main man in front of goals with three majors on the day, with Jake Galpin, Josh Smith and Grady Ward each booting two goals.
Ward’s performance had him among the best on field, with James Whitehead, Jacob Simpson and Clay McGregor also having great games.
Moama’s under-17s netballers were also victorious at Deniliquin, taking down the Rams 43-32 on their home court.
The win was a reversal of fortunes from the previous time the two sides met, with Deni defeating Moama 52-44 in round 12.
The win was the Magpies’ third of the finals campaign so far, with earlier victories over Numurkah in the elimination final and Rumbalara in the semi.
Meanwhile, it was a double dose of heartbreak for two of the Magpies’ other netball sides, who narrowly missed out on a grand final berth.
Moama’s under-15s and C-reserves both lost by a goal in their preliminary finals, falling to Deniliquin 25-24 and Rumbalara 39-38, respectively.
Moama’s senior footballers also missed out on reaching the grand final after they were handed a 57-point loss by Mulwala.
