The first quarter of the contest saw both sides maintain a relatively even playing field, with two separate run of goals saw Shepparton take a five-goal lead at quarter-time.
The Bears extended their lead in the second period, putting in another 16-goal effort while holding the Murray Bombers to another 11-goal quarter to push the lead out to double digits at the major break.
The Bears continued on their merry way following half-time, keeping the surging Murray Bombers at bay, with the attacking duo of Kim Borger and Ruby Higgins proving too much.
With the deficit at 11 heading into the final frame, Echuca would have its work cut out down the stretch.
Despite their best efforts, the Murray Bombers could only manage 10 goals in the fourth quarter, letting the Bears get away with a 16-goal effort to ice the game.
The final score was Echuca 45 to Shepparton 62.
Borger’s staggering 47-goal performance was the main factor behind the Bears’ victory, with Rose Byrne top scoring for the Murray Bombers with 25.
While the 17-goal deficit is not ideal, Echuca is still trying to find its footing in 2025 with player turnover.
The Murray Bombers will have a good chance to add to their win tally in round six when they travel to Kyabram to face the struggling Bombers.
