The para-swimmer was named in an 18-person squad by Paralympics Australia and will head to Glasgow 2026 to defend his 100m butterfly S10 gold medal.
The 22-year-old claimed the championship by 0.62 seconds over Australian teammate Alex Saffy in 2022, and both swimmers are set to be among the main contenders for the gold again.
Saffy edged out Pearse for the bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.
To go with his Comm Games gold, Pearse took bronze in the S10 butterfly at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, and silver in the SM10 200m medley at Paris 2024.
Pearse told Athletics Victoria this was what he trained for.
“For it to be my second (Commonwealth Games) after winning gold in 2022, I’m really striving to go back-to-back gold medals in the 100m butterfly,” he said.
“I’m super excited, super keen to represent the country and also just have a lot of fun.”
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in a stripped back format, with only 10 sports included, the least since 1994.
After Victoria withdrew from hosting duties in 2023, Glasgow stepped in as a replacement using existing facilities.
The games run from July 23 to August 2.
