Rising star and Corowa Rutherlgen Female Footballer Ruby Newton has been selected for the Under 16 Victoria Country squad for the 2026 Marsh AFL National Development Championships to begin this week.
Ruby was one of two Bushranger girls selected for the squad, the other being Bella Bowles from Wodonga Raiders.
The Vic Country side will go head-to-head with Vic Metro this Thursday, April 9 at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham, before featuring in a triple header the following Thursday, April 16 at Shepley Oval, Dandenong, against either Brisbane Lions Academy, Gold Coast SUNS Academy, South Australia or Western Australia.
The Marsh AFL National Championships and Marsh AFL National Development Championships are the highest level of state and territory representative football, as part of the AFL's Talent Pathway Program.
The competitions will feature the most talented footballers from across Australia who are the next generation of stars in the game.
All Female Roos grades start their 2026 North East and Border Female Football season campaign this Sunday in Wangaratta against the Rovers before playing their first game at home against Lavington on Sunday, April 19.
