On Wednesday night, the Rochester product was named as a training partner for Super Netball side Melbourne Mavericks ahead of the season starting in less than a fortnight.
The 21-year-old goaler impressed in 2025, where she split her time between the Mavericks’ Reserves, Bendigo Strikers and Kangaroo Flat, and Mavs head coach Gerard Murphy said Hocking’s elevation was only a matter of time.
“Teal is one of the most exciting young goalers coming through the Victorian system,” he said.
“She’s accurate, powerful and adaptable, and she consistently stands up in big moments.
“We’ve watched her grow rapidly over the past two seasons - both with Bendigo and inside the Mavs Reserves environment - and she’s earned this opportunity through work ethic and performance.
“She rounds out a training partner group that brings genuine depth and ambition to our 2026 program.”
Hocking has glimmered as one of the Goulburn Valley’s best young gems for quite some time now.
She is a former Victorian 19-and-under representative and played well beyond her years during her time at Rochester, backing it up with strong shooting performances in the Victorian Netball League.
The Mavericks start their season on March 14, taking on GWS Giants - featuring former Seymour playing coach Casey Adamson - at Bendigo’s Red Energy Arena.
Bendigo Strikers will play a curtain raiser beforehand, where several other GV products will begin their VNL campaign.
Among that group is Shepparton Swans star Harriet Gall, who has also gained a spot on a Super Netball club’s roster.
The rangy goaler was recently named as a training partner for Melbourne Vixens Reserves, a remarkable achievement considering her entire 2025 was struck out due to an ACL injury.
