The Magnificent Seventh: Katamatite rodeo an ‘unbelievable’ event

Traffic was banked 1km down Sandmount Rd to get into the reserve at 6.30pm.

Katamatite Lions president and event manager Andrew Moffatt said despite the hold-up, everybody was very patient and had a magnificent night overall.

“It was the best night and an unbelievable event for the area,” he said.

“Between online and on-the-gate sales, we had 4170 people through the gate, not including the competitors or the Lions club volunteers.”

Following the success of the event, Mr Moffatt hoped the rodeo could become an annual night for the community.

“We’ll have to work on better traffic management to get vehicles in and out, which we’re already looking at having a second entrance,” he said.

“We’re planning on doing some upgrades of the grounds and in the area, so people have an even better experience seeing the show next time.”

Katamatite Lions members thanked the sponsors, volunteers and community members who came and supported the event.
