IT WAS a case of déjà vu for cyclist Michael Taylor at the 2019 Road Nationals competition in Ballarat.

The weather wasn’t quite as bad, with mid to high 20s a change from the blistering heat of the year before, but still warm enough to provide a challenge for all competitors.
Taylor, a veteran of the sport, competed in the MH3 section.
He also competed in the same two events as the year before — the time trial and the road race.
And for the second year running he would finish in second place.
And as with the 2018 event, it was Alex Welsh who claimed top spot.
Taylor finished Saturday’s road race 13-and-a-half minutes behind Welsh, and followed this by finishing three-and-a-half minutes off the pace in the time trial.
Though he was unable to defeat his rival in Welsh, Taylor has now taken four silver medals in the past two years at the event.
