Shepparton had its hottest day in more than a year this February, as the summer heat delivered a string of days above 30˚C.
When the mercury topped 40.9˚C on Friday, February 17, it was the first time in 13 months Shepparton experienced a day above 40˚C — the previous being in December 2021.
It was one of 16 days above 30˚C in February and also went down as the warmest night of the month with a low of 23.9˚C.
The coolest day was a jumper-worthy 17.6˚C on February 3; the only day for the month to not reach at least 20˚C.
This was also one of only three days when rain fell, for a monthly total of 11.2mm — well below the Bureau of Meteorology’s February average for Shepparton of 33.2mm.
Meanwhile, the average daytime temperature of 30.3˚C was similar to the long-term average for February of 31˚C.
Looking ahead to autumn, the bureau is forecasting a drier and warmer than average autumn for most of Australia.
