With five new players at the start of the season, coach Louie Brennan was forced to try several different combinations until she found the best balance for her side.
And what Brennan has discovered is a powerful young netball side capable of beating the best sides in the Murray Netball League.
But minor premiers Deniliquin - who finished the season undefeated - remains the Blues' white whale this year.
Now the young Blues will have the opportunity to land their biggest catch in the grand final on Saturday.
"It is a very exciting time for the club," Brennan said.
"The girls have worked extremely hard to get here, everyone has wanted to improve their game on a weekly basis.
"Deniliquin are an extremely strong side and we look forward to playing the best team. They've been the best team all year but grand finals always throw up surprises."
When asked if there was a key player who could make a strong impact on the contest for her side, Brennan said it would take a total team effort.
"Everyone knows the game plan so we can't afford to go away from it," she said.
"I'm confident all of the girls are going to play at their best because they've been extremely reliable all season.
"Several of the girls have played in a grand final before so their experience will be a key in helping overcome any nerves they might have."
