What an incredible night of darts Echuca Moama Darts Association had at the Pastoral Inn Hotel Motel last Wednesday night. A record 26 players took part including two newcomers, Jen Reid and Micah Schroeder.
The night started with a round robin stage, eight groups of four players (including six byes) playing off with the top two in each group progressing to the last 16 knockout stage.
Leading lady player, and current Australian representative Jo Hadley, played very well to get to the semi-final but fell to the in-form Dylan Oaff.
An honourable mention has to go to Amon Sinnott, the only other lady to progress to the last stage. Unfortunately she lost her next game to be eliminated.
Andrew Beaumont had a good night out and was the other semi-finalist, but alas he went down to Michael Bajowski, which left us with arguably our best two players to battle it out for the championship title.
In a hard-fought best-of-seven final it looked like being all one way with Michael quickly getting to a 3-0 lead. However, Dylan dug in and won the next three on the trot.
With the last leg being the decider, both players showed the strain and had trouble pegging.
Michael became the eventual winner pegging out on double two to win 4-3 and go home with the silverware.
There were nine 180s and three 100+ pegs. Michael and Dylan both threw two 180s each, with singles going to Dallas Barnstable, Zeb Boslam, Cal Burt, Norm Hodge and Shane Mensforth.
Dylan Oaff had the highest peg of 122, Norm Hodge and Darren Manners both had 109 out shots.
