Both sides went into the game on Sunday undefeated, but only one would keep their streak intact for another week at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
In a closely fought game, it was Moama who was able to take advantage of a strong first-half performance to come away with the win.
The clash between two of the top sides in the league saw plenty of back-and-forth midfield battles, resulting in a tight, low-scoring affair.
Moama was able to edge out the first period, two goals to one, and capitalised further on their advantage in the second, kicking 2.3 while leaving the Eagles scoreless to lead by 21 at the major break.
United’s half-time team talk seemed to reinvigorate the home side, and it was all Eagles early in the third.
The pressure only yielded one goal, as another United effort struck the uprights, and a third sailed wide.
Moama regrouped late in the period to sneak through a goal and behind of its own, restoring its advantage to 20 points at the last break.
Both sides had opportunities in the fourth, but neither was able to string together scores, allowing Moama to hold on for a 6.4 (40) to 3.3 (21) victory.

Ruby McLeod kicked three goals for Moama to lead all scorers, while fellow vice-captain Shaleah Cooper added one, as did Zoe McCallum and Marli Hollamby.
Matilda Fowler contributed two of United’s majors, with Lily Dunham accounting for the other.
Having now beaten four of the other five sides in the league, Moama will look to complete its set of victories against Nathalia in a Friday night game this week.
The game is set for 6pm at Moama Recreation Reserve.
The whole league will be embracing Friday nights as Echuca United is set to host Shepparton Swans from 6.45pm.
In the Goulburn Murray Women’s League, Echuca is set to return to action after this week’s bye, taking on Nathalia at Victoria Park from 2pm on Sunday.
