Lennie Hayes-Green, 19, of Mooroopna, and Jarrah Weston, 20, of Shepparton, briefly appeared separately in filing hearings in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
They were arrested after a police chase where an allegedly stolen Nissan Pulsar was tracked by police, with the help of the police helicopter, through towns including Shepparton, Mooroopna, Kyabram, Echuca, Moama, Barmah, Nathalia, before it ended with a foot chase in Wilmot Rd, Shepparton.
Mr Hayes-Green is charged with two counts of aggravated intentionally exposing police to risk by driving, dangerous/negligent driving while pursued by police, driving in a dangerous manner, reckless conduct endangering life, failing to stop on police direction, and two counts of theft of a vehicle.
He is also charged with driving while disqualified, refusing an oral fluid test, six counts of contravening bail conditions and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
Among Mr Weston’s charges are four counts of reckless conduct endangering serious injury, with three charges related to him throwing spanners out of a stolen moving car towards police cars.
Three of the charges stem from July 9, with one occurring in Kyabram and two in Shepparton.
The fourth charge relates to driving towards a person in Shepparton on July 5.
He is also charged with dangerous driving while pursued, aggravated burglary with a person present, and two counts of burglary.
Mr Weston is also charged with nine counts of theft of a vehicle, and one of attempted theft of a vehicle.
Among the vehicle thefts was that of a 2000 Nissan Pulsar from Shepparton between July 8 and 9 that was allegedly used in the police chase.
The other vehicles he has been charged with stealing were a Subaru Outback and a 2004 Toyota Tarago van both stolen from Shepparton on July 5, a 2011 Toyota Corolla and a 2019 MG station wagon both stolen from Grahamvale on July 7, a Yamaha WR450 motorbike from Drumanure on July 7, an orange Holden sedan from Shepparton between July 7 and 8, and a 1996 Ford Falcon ute from Toolamba and a Toyota Kluger from Mooroopna both on July 8.
Mr Weston is also charged with nine thefts, 13 counts of obtaining property by deception, four counts of unlicensed driving, five counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail, attempting to commit an indictable offence and contravening a bail condition.
In court, the pair did not apply for bail.
Mr Weston was remanded in custody until his next court appearance in August, while Mr Hayes-Green was remanded in custody, with his next court appearance in October.
