There are two different heat stipulations which sides will follow in the event of extreme heat, according to Bowls Victoria and the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields Bowls Region.
If the forecast predicts afternoon temperatures above 36°C the day before play in the weekend pennant, play will be moved to a 9-9.30am start from its usual time of 1pm.
The midweek pennant, with a regular 10am start time, is unaffected by this provision.
If temperatures exceed 36°C before play, then the commencement of play must be halted until the temperature falls below that level, and play must resume immediately.
If one uninterrupted hour passes and the temperature does not return to acceptable levels, the match is abandoned.
The same is true if temperatures exceed 36°C during play, with one continuous hour of extreme temperatures ending the day's play.
All matches also have a hard finish time, five hours after the scheduled start time.
If interruptions cause the match to be ongoing after five hours, play is abandoned.
