Simon Maddox will be taking a back seat in the 2025-26 season, handing the captaincy to Brendan Moyle and Charlie Hinks for the impending campaign.
UK import Nathan Elliott has headed home and will be replaced by countryman pacer Josh Wills as Echuca’s strike option.
The Carliles are a well-known Echuca cricket family and have young guns Archer and Rory coming through alongside premiership winner Easton in the ranks to bolster the side’s depth.
“Josh Wills has got a couple of yards on anyone that we’ve got, which is pretty handy for us,” Echuca coach Anthony Dennis said.
“Apart from him, we’re the same team, we’ve just got a heap of young kids, so we’re looking at junior development as well.
“Outside the two Carlile boys, there’s a couple other young ones that will probably get a fair bit of exposure in the B-grade and coming up through the junior ranks as well.
“We’ve worked out we’ve most likely got 16 or 17 that can play A-grade most weeks, which gives us a lot of flexibility.”
Dennis highlighted the continued adherence of Echuca’s players to their processes and how even with four titles in as many years under their belt, they were sticking to the same plan.
“It’s pretty much the same each year, like we know the competition will be gunning for us, but we’ll just more focus on what we can control.
“Week in week out, we want to put our best performances forward and if other teams beat us when we’re playing well, so be it.
“We don’t mind if we play good games and get beaten, but it’s when we play bad games and get beaten, that’s when we have that talk about it.
“So, not much is going to change over the season, the same as it has been for the last four years.
“We are excited for the season ahead, so, hopefully, we can get a win. It’s good to get wins on the board early, so we’re hoping we can get a couple early on and get the ball rolling.”
