While Bamawm-Lockington United is also undefeated, the Mowers remain in first position on the ladder due to quotient.
Like others before it, Leitchville-Gunbower couldn’t hold a candle to the black and white, even after winning the toss and electing to bat at Moama Recreation Reserve.
L-G’s openers, Tyler Jones and Liam Keith, started well, putting on a 27-run stand for the first wicket.
However, it wouldn’t last as the league-leading wicket-taker and all-round star Matt Saunders got the breakthrough for the host in the eighth over, getting Keath to nick off into the gloves of Kobyn James for 15.
The wicket was playing havoc as none of the L-G batters could read the ball, allowing James to have a field day behind the stumps.
Saunders and James combined to dismiss Jasper Hare (0), Jones (15) and Simon Tatt (7) within 16 overs, all the same mode of dismissal – caught behind.
It was then wily leg spinner Russell Stockdale’s turn to get in on the action, with James again playing a vital role.
The leggie sent Nicholas Horman (19) and Kaleb Quinn (2) packing for not much return for their side.
Then, Stockdale jagged two more, with Rishabh Kothari hanging on to a catch to get Jye Keath (4) out, James Keath (4) hit one down the throat of Rhys Drennan and Scott Lucas (7) found the safe hands of Fraser Buchanan.
Clay McGregor finished off the innings, bowling Dallas Price out for 11 – rolling the visitor for 98 in 30 overs.
Stockdale and Saunders did the heavy lifting with the ball, taking strong figures of 5-12 and 4-13, respectively.
It took Moama less than 20 overs to chase down the measly total, as all the host’s top order put runs on the board.
Stockdale was the only wicket to fall for Moama, being caught by Simon Tatt off Kaleb Quinn’s bowling after blasting 36 off 27.
After a lean run with the bat to start the season, fellow opener Buchanan got some time in the middle, steering his side home with an unbeaten 34 alongside first drop Joel Murphy with 27 not out.
The dominant victory continues Moama’s dominant start, which it will look to continue in round six against Tongala at Tongala Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
Meanwhile, L-G will hunt its second win against Kyabram Fire Birgade, which has found some recent form at Gunbower Recreation Reserve.
