Playing at its surrogate home ground of Moon Oval, Echuca lost the toss, with Tongala opting to bat first and put runs on the board.
Tonny got off to a solid start, as Stephen Townsend and Jayden Tucker put on 40 for the first wicket.
Looking in good touch, Townsend was brought down by Simon Maddox, as Archer Carlile hung on to a catch to dismiss him for 20.
From there, the wickets began to tumble.
When Hudson Kellet was run out for five, it set off a chain reaction, as Adam Nunn (2) and Braith Northausen (3) were on their way shortly after.
Tongala captain Mackenzie Cowley (1) and Matt Ohlsen (golden duck) were dismissed in successive deliveries by Ben Henson.
Echuca’s Charlie Hinks cleaned up the tail, taking the wickets of Mitchell Cornwall (7), Darin Ohlsen (1), Ryley Cowley (0) and Lachlan Caldwell (4) in five overs to leave Tucker the sole survivor, carrying his bat through the innings for an unbeaten 47.
Hinks (4-17) and Henson (3-16) spearheaded Echuca’s bowling attack as the visitor was bowled out for 108 in 48 overs.
Despite Brendan Moyle being caught by Cowley off Nunn’s bowling for five, it was smooth sailing from there.
Anthony Dennis and Aidan Young put on 77 between them, with Young raising the bat for a well-earned half-century before he was dismissed by Darin Ohlsen for 54.
Dennis (37 not out) and Carlile (6 not out) guided the host home inside 22 overs to bank a comfortable victory and a bit of momentum.
Unfortuantley, Echuca will have to wait until round seven to build on that rhythm as it has the bye in round six, while Tongala will have its work cut out for it on Saturday, taking on Moama at Tongala Recreation Reserve.
