The final fundraising number, $14,335, was a welcome surprise for both sides and the most raised in the past five years.
“The first goal was to keep the event alive, it’s got a rich history, and we didn’t really want to see it discontinue,” event director Brady Threlfall said.
“To do that and also hit a target of 14,000 (we're) super proud of it, blown away.
“Already, the mind's ticking away for next year, how we can get that higher.
“It was a special day for the Echuca-Moama community.”
Organisers opted to support a single cause with the proceeds this year, the money previously distributed to different clubs and individuals throughout the local area.
“I think (ERH) is an organisation where everyone in town probably spends some time over the years,” Threlfall said.
“My babies were delivered here and my wife was in here for an X-ray a couple of days ago.
“Hopefully, we don't spend too much time in here for bad reasons, but I think it's a great cause and a great organisation that benefits pretty much every single person in the community.”
ERH chief executive Carol-Anne Lever was also excited about the final number.
“We're just totally blown away by the amount that was raised,” she said.
“We didn't actually know what to expect.
“We can't be more thankful for all of the community volunteers and we had lots of volunteers from Echuca Regional Health.
“I ran myself and I came second last, so I’m an example of how you can actually do it and participate and have a lot of fun.”
This year’s proceeds will go towards general clinical services, but with such a large amount raised, ERH may look towards a more specific target in the future.
“Because it's such a big amount, we might be able to use it for a few things,” Lever said.
“Maybe next year we might put a bit more focus on something more tangible that people can go right (that's the target), whether it's mental health or paediatric services or something like that.”
